The first thing you need to know about this application is that it is a simple slideshow screensaver for Windows. Slideshow screensavers work like this: they kick in when your computer goes idle, display an image for a bit (in this case the default setting is 10 seconds), transition to another image, display that for a bit, then transition to another image, and then to another image, and so on and so forth. Rivers In Nature Screensaver does this with a total of 16 images.

The second thing you need to know about Rivers In Nature Screensaver is that it is offered free of charge by Wallpaper Screensavers. You can use this application free of charge on your Windows powered PC (just about any version of the Microsoft-developed operating system) for as long as you want.

The third thing you need to know about Rivers In Nature Screensaver is that you can set the screensaver up just the way you want. There are several options you can play with in the settings pane; the following options:

- Select the order in which the images will be displayed. You can choose between sequential, random and shuffle.

- Select what transition effects the screensaver will use when switching from one image to another. There are a myriad of effects to go through.
- Select the speed of the transition effects.

- Enable the “Start image painting on Desktop” option. When the “Start image painting on Desktop” option is selected, the screensaver doesn’t just show up; it uses a transition effect to pop in.
